Plant tissue culture can seem complicated when you're first getting started. Different media, growth regulators, sterilization, containers and equipment can quickly turn into a long list of things to source.

The kit includes three InVitro Garden Aroid media:

For the initial establishment of plant material in vitro.

The included formulations are intended as general starting formulations for a range of commonly propagated aroids.

Plant response can vary considerably between species, cultivars, explant types and culture conditions. The included media should therefore be considered general-purpose starting formulations, rather than guaranteed species-specific formulas.

What You'll Need
The Starter Kit includes the essentials to get started. In addition, you will need:
Sterile workspace
- Still Air Box (SAB) or Laminar Flow Hood
- 70% Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA)
Plant material
- Healthy aroid donor plant
- Surface sterilization agents: 70% ethanol, 10–20% bleach, sterile distilled water
Equipment
- Pressure cooker or autoclave
- pH buffers (adjusts pH value) and pH meter or strips
How to use Aroid Media?
- Weigh out approx. 17.25g aroid medium powder (11.1g for rooting Medium) and add to ~400 mL water and dissolve.
- Use pH buffers to adjust pH to ~5.6–5.8 (measure with pH meter or strips).
- Add 3-4g agar, heat to dissolve.
- Top up with water to 500ml total media, dispense into jars and sterilise in autoclave/pressure cooker.
- Let cool before introducing plant material.
Adjust ingredients according to wanted amount of finished media solution. Example: for 1L media instead, double the amount of ingredients used in the recipe.
